Geothermal wonders

Rotorua is a vibrant city of approximately 77,000 people, located in the centre of the North Island. It’s known world-wide for its geothermal activity and Māori culture. Rotorua’s geothermal wonders have drawn visitors since the 1800s. There are few places in the world where geothermal activity is as extensive and easily seen as in Rotorua.

Rotorua is filled with bubbling mud pools and natural hot springs, which are perfect for bathing and relaxing in. QE Health uses the natural thermal waters from the local Rachel Spring – the waters that make Rotorua world-famous. Ngāti Whakaue whānau have bathed in the geothermal waters for centuries, harnessing their unique healing properties.

Outdoor activities

Rotorua offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, and features world famous mountain biking and running trails, beautiful lakes, and great cafes and restaurants.

There’s something for everyone from adventure-seekers to those just looking to relax and unwind.
